7.1 - Prescription Collection and Use

MyLooL may collect your eyeglass prescription information if you choose to purchase prescription eyewear through our website or Service. This prescription information is necessary to fulfill your order for prescription eyewear accurately.

By providing your prescription details, you consent to the collection and use of this data solely for the purpose of processing your eyewear order and ensuring the correct lenses are included in your purchase. MyLooL will only use this information to fulfill your order, verify its accuracy, and for customer service purposes. We will not use your prescription data for marketing or other unrelated purposes.

7.2 - Prescription Verification

To comply with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations under the Eyeglass Rule and in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), we may be required to verify the prescription provided by you.

  • Prescription Verification Process: When you submit your prescription, you must provide the full prescription information, including the prescription date, your pupillary distance (PD), lens type (e.g., single vision, bifocal, progressive), and any other relevant details. In the case of prescription eyewear, we may verify your prescription with the prescribing healthcare provider or a relevant authority.

  • Third-Party Communication: If verification is needed, we may contact the healthcare provider who issued the prescription. We will obtain your consent before reaching out to your healthcare provider. If we are unable to verify your prescription, we will notify you and work with you to resolve the issue.

  • No Prescription?: If you do not have a prescription or do not wish to submit your prescription for verification, we will be unable to process your order for prescription eyewear. We recommend that you consult with an optometrist or ophthalmologist to obtain a valid prescription.

7.3 - Data Protection and Security

We take the protection of your prescription data seriously and comply with HIPAA regulations as applicable. We implement robust security measures to protect your prescription information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

  • No Pressure to Purchase: You are not required to purchase eyewear from us in order to receive a copy of your prescription. This is in accordance with the FTC’s Eyeglass Rule, which prohibits optometrists or ophthalmologists from requiring a sale as a condition of providing a prescription.

  • Prescription Validity: Your prescription must be valid and within the legal time frame (typically one year from the date of the eye exam), and the prescription must be clear and legible.
